About PECC

Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) is a regional organization founded in 1980, serving as a forum for cooperation and economic development in the Asia-Pacific region. PECC is tripartite in nature, consisting of government officials, business leaders and academics.

PECC is policy oriented and its work programme aims for cooperation and policy coordination in areas including economic development, trade, investment, and finance.

PECC is the official observer of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), which is an important regional economic forum established in 1989, aiming to create greater prosperity for the people of the Asia-Pacific region.

PECC participates actively in the APEC process, by undertaking various studies and projects, and regularly provides inputs to APEC meetings through statements and reports.

Currently, PECC has 25 members, of which 22 are full member committees. The PECC International Secretariat is located in Singapore.

Hong Kong joined PECC in May 1991, and has continued to be a separate and full member under the name of “Hong Kong, China” since 1 July 1997.
